I was applying the grout on my backsplash and apparently I waited too long on cleaning up the excess grout. At present there is grout on the glass tiles and a sponge isn't doing anythig to remove the grout. Each glass tile is about half an inch past half inch, so you can only imagine how many tiles there are.

At that place'southward a couple of different types of glass, and i've already taken the grout off the smooth ones. But there'due south also rough textured glass tiles and those ones are a hurting in the arse to get the grout out.

So far, the only matter that seems to work is going through each tile with a toothpick (wetting the tiles frequently). I've also tried using a dremel, but everything is either too soft or too rough. I've heard virtually people using sulfuric acid, are there any other tricks to remove the grout? Thanks

Check your local large box store in the tile section, you should observe several different "grout haze remover" solutions. I've used a brand called Miracle from Hard disk, and had good luck with information technology.

Though I've never run into that problem personally, or my tile guy- I'll say that Tilelab has a brume remover also. My tile guy is a big Tilelab products user.
But, there are a few "tricks" y'all could try;
If haze remains 24 hours after installation (which would definitely be your case) then direct white vinegar can be used to remove it from the surface. Alternatively, a bleaching type cleanser such every bit Clorox Soft Scrub with Bleach and a white scrub pad tin can exist used to remove haze from the surface.
Glycolic acid (or hydroxyacetic acid) is the main ingredient in Tilelab's Haze Remover. The aforementioned stuff used for chemical pare peels.

Aye, I like acids better for the oops repairs. Acids have their strengths and in commercial applications are unremarkably too toxic to be legal. Imagine trying to explicate to a ste or federal inspector what yous were thinking about the acid deject in your burning lungs. Just yes, G'ledgeBldr is going good. Acids will eat annihilation if you get i strong enough. Phosphoric acid and fifty-fifty hydrochloric acid watered downwards are expert. But don't let them sit besides long. And don't bear on anything with the rubber gloves you will be wearing. Information technology'll ruin the terminate on your new faucet. I like a Q tip dipped in a shot glass of acid. Hopefully the backsplash isn't 100 s.f. A spray canteen with phosphoric isn't bad just experiment with the acids on things not valuable get-go to see how they act. A deject of Muriatic could gas could burn down your eyes and lungs. Sulfuric will burn a hole to china if you spill too much. I know, I did it once.

I had this same problem with my pencil tile and the textured drinking glass. It is going to take some work but I waited till it was dried and used an exacto knife to get the majority of it out and so used q-tips and straight hydrogen peroxide to clean out the remaining rest. This worked all-time for me. Also takes off the haze and so yous're getting two for 1.

I know this is old, so hopefully the OP has gotten their tile clean past now!

They also brand various grout removal sponges that are really more like scrubbing pads, which can help quite a bit, especially if toward the end of a wipe down, things outset to become sticky.

And any fourth dimension you put something on, be information technology vinegar, commercial haze remover, etc, you lot need to use a sponge or grout scrubber to do the work.
